A recap of The Leading Edge's exciting matches against UK touring teams & kit donation by Beacon Prep School (UK)

After a long break, The Leading Edge players returned to the field with renewed energy and enthusiasm. We extend our gratitude to Bundu Bashers Sports Travel for organising these fixtures, providing valuable opportunities for our boys and girls. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Lankester White Safaris for generously supplying all the meals for the players on match day, as well as to Mazi Investment for outfitting our entire team with clothing. Your support ensures that our players can focus on their performance and enjoy the game to the fullest.

On Friday 9 February, The Leading Edge hosted two exciting matches against UK touring teams, providing thrilling cricket-action for players and spectators alike.

In the under-13 match, underpinned by captain Blaze Soma’s strategic breakthroughs in the bowling attack, The Leading Edge displayed a commendable performance which ultimately paved the way for a remarkable victory. Despite initial setbacks with their batting innings, a resilient partnership between players Lloyolo and Ngonelo secured the win for The Leading Edge. Connor Bowman’s exceptional bowling earning him the Man of the Match award.

Meanwhile, the under-19 Invitational team faced off against a formidable Wellington College side. Captain Christopher Varie’s resilient innings of 63 (not out), salvaged a draw for The Leading Edge after a challenging start to their run chase. Although Wellington College emerged victorious in the subsequent super-over, both teams enjoyed a competitive and enriching experience.

These matches provided valuable opportunities for players from diverse backgrounds, to showcase their talent and passion for cricket. The generosity of donated equipment from the visiting teams always does well to entrench The Leading Edge’s commitment to fostering cricketing opportunities and nurturing young talent.

Looking ahead, The Leading Edge aims to continue building relationships with schools and partners, enriching the cricketing experience for players and fans alike. With the support of their partners, they anticipate an exciting conclusion to the season, filled with more opportunities for growth and development in the sport.
