Brian Cordery Trophy
Republished with kind permission — Somerset College
The annual cricket match between The Leading Edge U13 and Somerset College Prep U13 teams took place under challenging weather conditions, characterised by blisteringly windy weather. This match holds special significance as it was the occasion for the presentation of the inaugural Brian Cordery trophy. The trophy was made by Mr Shariden Saaimaans (Storeman) and presented by Mr Patrick Cordery (Chaplain).
The Brian Cordery trophy is named in memory of the late father of our Chaplain who passed away in July. The Cordery family made a heartfelt decision to dedicate the funds collected in lieu of flowers to The Leading Edge, a decision rooted in Brian’s lifelong passion for cricket. This act of generosity from the Cordery family not only pays tribute to a devoted cricket enthusiast but also aligns with The Leading Edge’s mission to make a positive impact in the community.
In particular, The Leading Edge is committed to coaching underprivileged children in the area and nurturing their love for the game of cricket. This trophy serves as a symbol of unity, remembrance, and the shared love for the sport, and it reinforces the importance of giving back to the community by providing opportunities for underprivileged youth to discover and embrace the joys of cricket.
Your financial support (or in-kind) will help The Leading Edge to go a long way to make the dreams of these young cricketers come true.
Should you wish to know how you can make a donation and become a supporter of The Leading Edge Sports Foundation’s development programmes, please don’t hold back on contacting our Director of Operations, Mr Hilton Toro.
